2011 Christmas Classic Results

Congratulations to Chris Bailey from Mt Warren Lanes, who yesterday defeated Tweed local Jocelyn Smith, 449-395, to win Coolangatta Tweed Tenpin's Christmas Handicap Classic.

Chris played exceptionally well all day, placing 1st after 6 games of qualifying averaging a massive 49 pins over average (114)! Chris played Jarrod Dover in the Top 16 winning only by 7 pins. The Top 8 match saw Chris thrashing Alan Adams winning by a massive 105 pins. Chris's Top 4 match defeating Matthew Purser 481-463, was one of the most thrilling matches, Chris winning by bowling a turkey in the 10th frame. The Final Chris played  again Tweed local Jocelyn Smith and defeating her 449-395.

Special mention to the following bowlers who scratch averaged over 200 after 6 games qualifying:

Out of the 58 entrants there were 36 entries that qualified over their entering average, to make the Top 16 you would have had to averaged 213.5 with handicap.

We thank everyone for bowling and look forward to your participation next year in the 2012 Christmas Classic.

Jacks Handicap Classic 2011

Thank you to all of the 62 bowlers who bowled in the Jacks Handicap Classic this year, it was an excellent turn out.

Congratulations to Hayden Dover who won the Jacks Handicap Classic this year averaging 201.9 scratch, 40 pins over his entering average for the 10 games.

2011 Disability Championships

The 2011 Regional Championships for Bowlers with a Disability was held this weekend on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  This tournament keeps going from strength to strength. 

This year we had more entries than ever.  440 Bowlers in 232 entries bowling in 16 squads over three days.  There were 6 divisions with Mens and Womens bowling Single, Doubles, Teams and All Events which resulted in 576 Standing sheets produced over the course of the event !!!

Teams were fielded for:

• Break Away (Mt Warren)
• Waltzing Matilda (Mt Gravatt)
• Dragon All Stars (Logan City)
• Dolphins (Strathpine)
• Ipswich
• Maitland
• Tweed (of Course)

All particpants enjoyed themselves, even Ray who had to take over from David with the calls of Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!!!

Junior Mid Year Trials

The Coolangatta Tweed Tenpin Junior Mid Year Trials were held on Sunday 19^th June 2011 with 15 of our current Junior bowlers taking part. This is an annually held handicapped tournament just for the Junior Bowlers in the centre to bowl up against other juniors in the centre with similar average to them. The top 2 Bowlers in each section were awarded a High Achievement Medallion and every entrant not placed in the top 2 received an encouragement award Medallion.

A Special Mention needs to be made for the following Bowlers:

Jonty Bailey - bowling a 213 game off a 140 average
Brody Conaghan  - bowling a 197 game off a 120 average
Zane Klessens – The only Bumper bowler to bowl all games over average
